It is fitting and appropriate that the inaugural program under BHAAA ASSIST is “The Joe Sutton Scholarships”. Joe was the embodiment of community, loyalty and an unwavering desire to reach out to lift the next generation. In his beloved Beverly Hills in 1974, Joe set out to coach his two boys Michael and Robby in T-Ball and AYSO soccer, but within a decade, that effort shaped a whole generation of young men. Joe always believed in the power of sports to shape lives and through the Joe Sutton Scholarships, his legacy of love and influence continues.
BHAAA Assist Joe Sutton Scholarship Fund Program Guidelines
The Beverly Hills Athletic Alumni Association (BHAAA) has created BHAAA Assist to provide financial assistance to individuals in need who meet qualifications set forth by the BHAAA Assist Scholarship Committee. Our mission is to provide financial assistance to former athletic alumni of Beverly Hills High School and others who were involved in the athletic program.
We welcome applications for scholarship funds from all sections of the community. Decisions regarding scholarships will be made with consideration given to available funding levels and need and never on grounds of age, race or gender. Scholarship funds are derived from donations and grants. As funds are limited, BHAAA Assist will prioritize awards based on need, which the Scholarship Committee determines based on review of application materials in its sole discretion. All application submissions are reviewed on an individual basis and all decisions made by the BHAAA Scholarship Committee are final.
We will endeavor to complete the process and advise you of the outcome of your application within 30 days. We will notify you upon receipt of your application and will inform you if your application is not complete, is ineligible, or of a low priority. There will be no further correspondence with unsuccessful applicants. Unsuccessful applicants may re-apply after 30 days. Successful applicants may re-apply after 1 year.
NOTE: Failure to use Scholarship funds for the purposes described in your application will result in future ineligibility for all BHAAA Assist Scholarship funds and may result in BHAAA Assist seeking the return of distributed funds.
